CERBERUS™ FOR WIRELINE

Cerberus is the world’s leading modeling software for planning and performing electric line and slickline operations in deviated wells.

Cerberus for Wireline is unique software for planning the deployment of cable-conveyed tools, especially in highly deviated or complex trajectory wells, by modeling the cumulative mechanical and hydraulic forces to ensure the target depth can be reached, the job performed, and the tools returned to surface safely and efficiently with the chosen equipment.

First introduced in 1999, Cerberus for Wireline is relied upon by service companies and operators worldwide for planning and performing logging, perforating and slickline operations in open and cased hole.

Wizards
Cerberus guides you through complex configuration and job design tasks with the help of numerous "wizards". These tools step you through key decisions in a logical and intelligent sequence, presenting choices based on previous selections. Cable and tool selections are made from pre-defined databases, while electronic survey data can be imported from external files or spreadsheets.

Results
Cerberus results can be presented several ways, with varying degrees of complexity. The "Surface Weight vs Depth" graph illustrated below often provides a quick assessment of the job feasibility. Problems like cable compression during RIH or overpull while POOH are clearly flagged. Other important graphs include maximum pull capability (for fishing or freeing a stuck tool), stretch (for depth corrections), and tractor pull requirements.

Question & Answer Wizard
Getting results is made easy in Cerberus by the Question & Answer Wizard.  The main calculation tasks are presented as questions, and you simply click on the one you are interested in. The symbols on the left indicate the type of result or calculation you will see, for example a numerical result, a graph or a calculation wizard. The questions are divided into four logical sections, as shown below.

Click on different sections of the screen capture below for additional information and/or examples. You will need to enable pop-ups in your browser.

Selecting the Toolstring is concerned with the tool configuration and weak point selection, including the effect of knuckle joints, centralizers and rollers on your ability to navigate doglegs and restrictions in the well.

Getting Into and Out of the Well addresses the fundamental issue of whether the chosen toolstring can reach the required depth, especially in a deviated or flowing well, and be retrieved safely to surface once the job is complete.

Performing the Job At Depth ensures that, once downhole, you have sufficient maneuvering room to perform the job or deal with contingencies. For example, how much tension can you pull at surface if you get stuck or need to fish, or how much risk is there of flow pushing the tools uphole after perforating.

Other Calculations includes modeling for stuck tools and extended reach, as well as reporting and sensitivity analysis tools.
