Each project consists of four basic components, each of which must be configured before proceeding to perform any calculations - the cable (or pipe), toolstring (or BHA), well geometry and survey data.

You have a choice of how to configure several of these items. You can either do it in Orpheus (the main program shown above; Cerberus is an umbrella name for a suite of programs, of which Orpheus is one) or you can use one of the Cerberus Managers. The Managers are more complex and contain far more information, but once the extra data entry effort has been made it provides a useful long-term record of the well or toolstring for future use, and enables you to print professional reports with diagrams. Orpheus, on the other hand, just requires the minimum data for doing the modeling, and does not concern itself with the details of the well or tools. This approach is easier if you just need to do some quick modeling and do not have to present the results to other people.
