The following is a history of the software enhancements for Cerberus and Orion that are included in the most recent update file. They are listed with the most recent update first.

Cerberus 8.5 (All Types) Enhancements - Release Note History

8.5.18

  • HYDRA- Hydra has been improved, including the execute function.

8.5.17

  • WELL EDITOR – All types of wells may be printed.
  • STRING DESIGN - All wells will appear in the list.
  • ORPHEUS - The Wireline report has been improved.
  • JOB MANAGER - Improvements made for handling large job logs.
  • HYDRA - The Jointed Pipe fit algorithm has been improved.

  • ORPHEUS - The “Drum Crush” warning has been removed from slick line projects. A calculation lock-up issue has been resolved.

  • STRING EDITOR – The correct outer diameter of a tapered string can now be updated.
  • CERBERUS – Cerberus can now use Polish regional settings

  • FLUID MANAGER - Cerberus version 8.0 fluids may be imported.
  • HYDRA - The Orpheus calculation engine was improved to allow concurrent calculations while viewing the data table.
  • WELL EDITOR – Well Editor now allows creation of a new well if the well-name has been used previously. A well can be saved even if the reservoir is removed.
  • STRING MANAGER- Capacity calculations have been updated in the fatigue printout.

  • ORPHEUS - Fluid densities can be entered in Metric Units.
  • ORPHEUS - Bottom hole assembly can now be displayed in correct position in well bore.
  • JP EDITOR - The JP editor can print to a PDF printer.

  • Orpheus - Poisson’s effect is now included in the stretch graph for RIH and POOH.
  • String Manager - Strings can be organized into folders.
  • Cerberus – Back-up databases can now be used.

8.0.29

  • Orpheus - Added the ability to Orpheus to use Herschel Bukley fluid rheologies.
  • Orpheus - Input checking was improved for the catastrophic buckling indicator.
  • Hydra - The Darcy reservoir calculations have been updated to use the volume weighted average for viscosity and volume formation factors.

  • Updated import/export functionality.

  • Orpheus – Large set-down weights can be added to PACA.
  • Orpheus – Allows calculation to proceed when annulus is filled with air and CT is filled with water.
  • Cerberus – Change between military dating system and American civilian dating system allowed.
  • Hydra – Changes made to allow exporting Hydra project, and for calculations to proceed without cessation with all of output printing. Flow calculation allows index selection to be “in bounds”.
  • Job Manager - May use comma as a decimal separator.

  • Orpheus - String editor allows .Net Framework 2.0 to be installed. The averaging function can be used while importing Orion data.
  • Cerberus – Allows the use of a comma for a decimal separator.
  • String Manager – Allows printout of all strings with printers.
  • Hercules – Projects can be printed prior to saving.
  • Hydra – Eliminated “curve does not exist error” from well view.
  • Reeltrak – Job can be saved prior to fatigue addition.
  • Job Manager – Allows charts to be viewed on jobs with no positive pressure.
  • Well Editor – Now allows use of a comma for a decimal separator with metric units and Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installed.
  • String Design Wizard – Allows a complete list of wells to be displayed.

8.0.23

  • Hydra – Program will stay active when well is deleted.
  • Tool Manager – Allows creation of a new toolbox.
  • Orpheus Wireline only – Drum crush warning is now viewable by default in the Wireline Report.
  • Orpheus CT only – Sensivity analysis agrees with main calculations when changing CT diameters.
  • Orpheus – Sensivity analysis will retrieve correct list of wells and CT strings.
  • CT only – 3.25 inch tubing from Quality Tubing has been added to the database.
  • Base Manager – All pages will print on the Central report or the String report.
  • Well Editor – False data gap has been corrected to allow data to be saved.
  • String Manager – New string creation is now allowed when using international comma as a decimal separator.
  • Job Manager – Job log chart can be displayed when the date column contains no data.

  • Added a new feature to enable string and job database link to be restored if accidentally corrupted or deleted.
  • Orpheus WL only – Corrected the reel capacity calculation in the Cable Tension Wizard when metric units are utilized.
  • PACA JP only – Added ability to model a temporary packer for jointed pipe operations.

8.0.21

  • Tool Manager – Eliminated an issue that could prevent users from creating new tools for their toolbox.
  • Orpheus – Corrected frictional pressure drop calculation for downhole tools. This issue was restricted to calculations performed using versions 8.0.19 and 8.0.20 of the software.
  • Well Editor – Corrected productivity index calculation when metric units are utilized.
  • Orpheus – Eliminated an issue that prevented some users from saving their project organization settings to a folder.

8.0.20

  • Hydra – Eliminated calculation error where pressure drop across the tool was ignored if metric units were used.
  • Hercules – Eliminated program stability issues that could result when a project was deleted.
  • Orpheus – Wireline only, corrected the display of cable wrap positions in the Cable Tension Wizard graph.
  • String Manager – Eliminated issue that could prevent splicing of CT strings if metric units were used.

  • Eliminated Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 incompatibility error “unable to cast object of type ‘_CFluid[]“
  • Well Editor – Eliminated the appearance of duplicate entry’s following saving a well to file.
  • Hydra – Eliminated error message that could appear when exporting a project.

8.0.18

  • Orpheus – Corrected CT lockup limit curve when used with tool model 2.
  • Hydra – Corrected reservoir flow calculations provided by Hydra snapshot mode.
  • PACA – Eliminated “Subscript out of range” error that could occur when using the permanent packer option after modeling with a temporary packer.

8.0.17

  • Hercules – Improved stability of calculations when Ovality equals zero.
  • Reeltrak – Prevent fatigue calculation for high pressure (>25,000 PSI) modeling situations due to lack of test data.

8.0.16

  • Orpheus – Corrected incorrect scaling of wall contact force graph in the Wireline report.
  • Orpheus – Eliminated issue of a project possibly not appearing after file import.
  • Orpheus – Eliminated an Orion data import issue whereby an incorrect depth would be displayed if the imported data was scaled in metric units.
  • Hydra – Corrected fill removal weight calculation of wellbore fill particles suspended in fluid.

8.0.15

  • Orpheus – Eliminated “Error 15” message that would intermittently occur when modeling deeper wells containing compressible fluids/gas inside the CT.
  • String Manager – Enhanced optical display for the fatigue viewer.

8.0.14

  • Orpheus – Eliminated “Index was outside of bounds of the array” error that could occur when modeling a with a compressible fluid.
  • Orpheus – Eliminated “index was outside of bounds of the array” error when utilizing the String Design wizard.
  • Orpheus – Implemented a change to improve calculations when “advanced friction” option is utilized.

  • String Manager – Enhance printout so that all results of the fatigue data is printed.

8.0.12

  • Orpheus – Corrected issue with maximum depth calculation returning a value of zero when wellhead pressure (WHP) is increased.
  • Hydra – Updated snapshot output to avoid display of a potential incorrect liquid pump rate following use of the Analysis wizard.
  • Hydra – Modified roughness data printout to display additional significant digits.
  • Hydra – Eliminated an error message that would sometimes appear if a project file was saved without a string or well being present.
  • Hydra – Improved calculations to enable convergence on a mathematical solution when modeling situations that include tubing nipples.

8.0.11

  • Orpheus – Disabled ability to model with centralizers, until such time as an improved modeling solution can be developed and incorporated in a future update release.
  • Orpheus – Eliminated erroneous error message “Measured depth is greater than well depth.”

8.0.10

  • Orpheus – Corrected survey data printout when metric units are being used.
  • Job Manager – Eliminated an error that could occur if job files with an apostrophe in their name are deleted.

  • Orpheus – Corrected Sensitivity Analysis so that it does not provide identical pickup weights for all modeling scenarios.

  • Orpheus – Enhanced String Design wizard so it can use a fluid other than water for the well fluid.
  • Tool Manager – Eliminated erroneous error message that could occur when creating a new toolbox.

Orion 8.0 Enhancements - Release Note History

Helpful Hint: Users can confirm they are operating Orion IV hardware on their unit by opening the Orion enclosure and noting the presence of a Opto 22 module with a silver faceplate that contains the label “ultimate i/o”.

8.0.26

  • Comments now displayed on a filtered data Chart.
  • Corrected Speed channel gain calculation error that some users may experience (if depth channel was associated with speed) when utilizing the Calibration Wizard with Orion IV hardware.
  • String name punctuation for fatigue monitoring in Cerberus now supported.
  • Configuration Utility updated to provide correct outputs when configuration was saved via the Configuration Utility on Orion IV hardware.

8.0.25

  • Preview now available during an Orion playback.
  • Limits Monitor screen can now be resized.
  • Axis labels are now available in the Limits Monitor.
  • Acquiring ASCII data with extra delimiters in a data stream now available.

8.0.24

  • Emergency Stop System now supported with Orion IV hardware.
  • Job Monitor alarm limits now update.
  • Users are now alerted when Cerberus or a selected Cerberus database is not on the PC.
  • Depth channel gain calculation function in Calibration Wizard was corrected to avoid incorrect gain calculation (4x high) that some users could experience with Orion IV hardware.
  • Scrolling functionality while setting hardware outputs is now fully supported.

8.0.23

  • Logtool header and text displays are enhanced.
  • County and State fields can now be updated in Logtool.
  • Dual Gauge indicator now retains channel configurations between uses.
  • Logtool balloons are enhanced during playback mode.
  • Logtool balloons with point values are now available during realtime.

8.0.22

  • A standard cubic feet per minute (SCF/min.) unit type is now available.
  • The Rover will now show CT 12 data with the Ultimate IO.
  • The ability to load memory maps dynamically is now available.
  • A Print Option has been added to the file menu of the log tool.

  • The ability for Orion to handle 12 slots with the Ultimate IO has been added.
  • The Limits Monitor labels are now totally viewable.
  • All derived channels will now be sent to the client in Internet Mode.
  • WITS ID values are now allowed to be cleared.
  • The 3rd party serial option is now available with the proper authorization code.
  • Configuration utility confirmation is now available.

  • Made ASCII over TCPIP modifications to allow a wireless network

  • Completed multiple changes to improve reliability of wireless communication

  • Enhanced software to eliminate potential issues if Derived Channels were utilized as the first Data Source in the configuration.
  • Eliminated program stability issue that could occur if a blank IP address was used in the Internet Data Source configuration.
  • OrionNet-enhanced software to accelerate program response time when users zero a channel.
  • Eliminated erroneous “Demo” warning message from appearing on the Forces monitor screen.

8.0.16

  • Upgraded software to enable ReelTrak to be launched from Orion when the Username in Windows was not defined.
  • Eliminated issue that could prevent launching of Job Monitor from Orion.
  • Eliminated issue that could prevent channels from appearing during the import of a configuration.
  • OrionNet-eliminated an issue that could prevent proper updating of PC display when user zeroed an analog input channel.
  • OrionNet-eliminated possibility of headings not being associated with correct datalog columns. This issue was only observed to occur under a very specific set of conditions, such as terminating the Orion program, then subsequently restarting Orion and appending to the same database, and then only when multiple Orion units came online in a order that was different than the original Orion unit shutdown order.
  • OrionNet-enhanced the Error Detection capabilities of the software.
  • OrionNet-upgraded protocol to utilize TCP (instead of UDP).

8.0.15

  • Critical Update for Orion IV/OrionNet Users Only - eliminated “Subscript out of range” error that could be received during zeroing of analog channels in OrionNet.
  • Eliminated issue of “Devmode = Null” error when the user right-clicked the strip chart to print.

8.0.14

  • Added ability to import EMU files that contain renamed channels.
  • Updated “About Orion” to display installed version instead of executable version.
  • Eliminated the need for a special authorization key in order to utilize Data Simulator.
  • Added ability to start the Fatigue Monitor from outside “Quickstart”.

  • For Orion IV Users Only - eliminated runtime error 6 (Not a Number) during Orion IV data acquisition.

8.0.12

  • Eliminated the Playback error “Invalid use of Null” that would occur if no channels were available upon initiation of database Playback.
  • Added ability to use Configuration utility for computers without a COM port present.
  • For Orion IV Users Only - Corrected Microsoft incompatibility issue that resulted in a “Automation Error” when using Ultimate I/O.
  • Corrected an issue in Log Tool/Report Designer that caused blank pages to be printed if the print icon was used to print during real-time data acquisition.

  • Updated “uninstall” functionality to prevent accidental removal of data files.
  • Corrected an issue such that Fatigue Monitor and Limits Monitor will launch correctly.
  • Critical Update if Using Metric Units: Corrected an issue where Limits Monitor would be scaled incorrectly if metric units were used.
  • Orion version 8 user's guide added to the help menu.

8.0.08

  • Corrected an issue that caused Orion to be unstable when resuming real-time acquisition if comments were contained at some location other than in the right-hand column.
  • Corrected the calibration wizard so it can be used for Depth/Speed channel calibration.

8.0.06

  • Allow users to set minimum scale value to zero in strip chart view.
  • Eliminated the “Error 9” message when applying a filter to the data.
  • Corrected a file menu option such that Orion can be restarted from this location.

  • Corrected issue of strip charts adding 1 unit of measure to value displayed on graph.
  • Corrected an issue that caused Orion to be unstable if the configuration contained an invalid channel type.
